<p>Goal setting is quite often something you hear about in your workplace. But do you ever think about putting this in all areas of your life? I (Jen) do this for all areas of my life and we (Jen &amp; Elle) encourage our clients (that’s you) to do the same. So you might be asking why? If you don’t set a goal how do you know when you have got where you are going? I do a colour coded spread sheet with the level of importance indicated, space for notes and a tick box for when the goal is completed or achieved (cause yeah I am a geek but that works for me).</p>
<p>So how far in advance do you set goals? Some people like to have 1, 3 and 5 year plans. I like to look at the next 3 months, sometimes there are a few that are a bit further in advance but a 3 month goal is a good timescale, its not too long that I will get bored and its short enough that I will notice change. For physical change in 3 months if you are following a fantastic eating and exercise plan the results will be MASSIVE in 3 months. How good will you feel when you tick off that box?</p>
<p>How many of your goals you achieve solely depends on how much focus <strong>YOU</strong> put in to achieving them…. If you have seen Fight Club, the scene in the convenience store you will get that if your life depends on it you will make the changes necessary to get you where you want to be.  A millimetre shift is all it takes to make a massive change in your life. Say yes to every opportunity. Keep an open mind. Find people in your life that will help you get there. Surround yourself with people that inspire and motivate you. Now I am not going to tell you to ditch people but there are people who suck the life out of you, as much as possible avoid these people. <strong>Write the goals down</strong>. Any of you that have been in the office this year will have seen out timeline. Yes it’s for a year but it is only written up for the next few months. AND so far, everything we have written up has been achieved.</p>
<p>So sit yourself down just for 10 mins and start making a goal list. It can be anything from taking up a new hobby, read more, eat healthier, exercise more, go on holiday, start looking for a new job, do more of what you love, talk to more people…. Once you have your list, next to each goal note down how or what needs to be done to achieve that goal and give a timeframe. Some will be a few days, some will be weeks, months some even longer.</p>
<p><strong>THEN</strong> start ticking them off as you achieve them. Notice how good it feels. As they are getting ticked off add more, it should be a never ending list always ticking off and adding on.  Don’t wait for New Year to make resolutions. Every day is a new beginning.</p>

<p>Ryan Giggs is 39 and still going strong playing for Manchester United (over 900 competitive games to date) and 64 caps for Wales…. He even has his own yoga inspired fitness DVD out. There is no question that the guy is in great shape and alongside his football training he has incorporated Pilates and Yoga, Both of these disciplines are proven to not only make you more flexible but a whole lot stronger too. DVD’s are fine… classes are even better. Our classes are small in numbers so you get your very own instructor teaching you how to do the moves correctly, there to answer any questions if you are not feeling the moves where we are telling you. We provide the mats and other equipment that we sometimes like to throw in for fun and to challenge you more. Jen &amp; Elle will certainly challenge you.</p>

<p>Its not just footballers that have been adding Pilates and Yoga to their training. The New Zealand All Blacks, Aussie Rules teams (including the Glasgow Sharks who we teach), English Cricket team Shaquille O’Neil took up yoga when he started to get injured to extend the length of his career and a host of Olympic athletes all include it.</p>

<p>The founder of Pilates was a guy Joseph Pilates; he was a boxer, acrobat &amp; gymnast. His philosophy for Pilates was ‘The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is gaining the mastery of your mind over the complete control over your body’. When Joseph Pilates opened his first Pilates studio in New York his clients were all men: boxers, skiers.</p>

<p>So, if you could <strong>move better</strong>, <strong>prevent injury</strong>,<strong> improve flexibility</strong>, extend your time on the field, aspire to be one of those cool old guys you see at the gym full of life then getting some Pilates and Yoga in your life is the way forward. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So most of you will at some point read a post from me (Jen) banging on about sugar and sweetners… If you are a new follower then don’t worry you will hear me rant in the near future. This is just a quick overview of a few points I have read about recently&#8230;</p>
<p>After a recent bout of Helicobactor Pylori (nasty bacteria that kills the good bacteria in your gut and can cause stomach ulcers with various other side affects) I was advised to avoid processed sugar as much as possible and also artificial sweetners.</p>
<p>I personally already avoid sweetners as much as possible anyway. I react to them. Some of them make me wheeze, some break my eczema out, sugar in particular causes outbreaks of spots and just generally make me feel like shit!</p>
<p>Recently I had an email newsletter through from the states specifically talking about sucralose in particular (there are many studies done on artificial sweetners that are linked to asthma, parkinsons, alzheimer’s, migranes etc. A study done by the University of Duke found that (all be it in rats) sucralose kills the healthy bacteria in the gut which is where some of our immune system kicks in and kills off the bad bacteria (that always makes me think of PacMan lol). That can’t happen if the good bacteria have been killed off by the sucralose.</p>
<p>So if your gut isn’t working properly, you are not absorbing nutrients in to your body, your immune system is down, you will be feeling sluggish, struggling to lose weight, holding fat round your belly area, possibly have headaches, regular colds or colds that never seem to properly clear up?</p>
